Plenty of people tend to disregard the fact that our body needs regular maintenance, just like a car engine. Once in a while, it needs some help with getting rid of all the toxins, dead cells, and impurities that have accumulated. Sweating gets rid of most of the unwanted materials in your body, but some of them remain stuck to your skin.
So, once a month, make a detoxifying bath for yourself, and enjoy it. Your body is a temple, it’s supposed to stand a long time, so make sure you give it all the necessary tools and provide the conditions to thrive.
Here’s a recipe for a simple detox bath:
What you’ll need:
- 10 drops of essential oil of your choosing
- ½ cup baking soda
- Handful Epsom salts
When choosing essential oils, have in mind what their purpose is. Cedarwood oil is used for depression, grapefruit when you need a pick-me-up, lavender provides calmness, chamomile and rosemary are used for headaches, and peppermint for fatigue.
- Draw a bath and add the ingredients
- Soak and relax for 20 minutes
- Rinse off with a cool shower
Make sure you have plenty of water on the day of your detox bath, just to give a little nudge to the detox process. The process of pulling toxins out of your skin can be dehydrating, so making sure you’ve had a tall glass of room temperature water before taking the bath is highly recommended. Drink a glass of water afterwards too.
Another important thing to note is that the atmosphere during your bath needs to be relaxing and soothing. If you’re under tension that day, postpone the detox bath. Take a bath when you’re feeling better, and make sure you create a pleasant environment by dimming lights or lighting some candles.
As mentioned before, detox bath is recommended to take once a month. Apart from the obvious benefit of it being relaxing and soothing, it will also get rid of all the dead skin, and dead cells in general, that accumulate on your body, and have you feeling fresh and ready to tackle the new day.
