Baking soda is one of the most common ingredients, and it can be found in nearly every kitchen. It’s useful for many thing, ranging from cooking and baking to cleaning. However, the main baking soda use we’re interested is its use in healing and repairing hair follicles.

Baking soda is able to stimulate hair growth, prevent hair loss, and give your hair a new, healthy look. It’s used as a shampoo and a conditioner, and it leaves you with soft and smooth hair.

As a well-known cleanser and cleaner, baking soda does the following for your hair when used regularly:

  • Stimulates hair growth

Baking soda cleans your hair completely naturally. Also makes it soft and healthy. The main benefit, however, is that it prevents hair loss and improves new hair growth

  • Gets rid of chlorine and toxins

Your hair is loaded with toxins and chemicals that are found in mass produced shampoos and conditioners, as well as in the water. All of these can affect hair growth negatively. Baking soda gets rid of them, and removes all the extra dirt from your hair. Chorine is the most common elements used for water filtration, and it’s extremely harmful for your hair. Baking soda shampoo neutralizes it, and gets it out of your hair.

  • Removes hair product residue

Did you ever think about how many of the ingredients found in your daily-use shampoo, conditioner, hair spray or gel are actually harmful for you and your hair? Baking soda cleans them out of your hair, and makes it healthy and product-free.

Baking Soda Shampoo Recipe

Combine water and baking soda in ratio 3:1. What you need to note is that the longer your hair is, the more shampoo you need to prepare.

For example, if you have a normal length hair, mix 6 tablespoons of water with 1 tablespoon baking soda.

Use as any regular shampoo; rubbing the mixture from your hair roots to the ends. Leave it on for a few minutes, same as you’d do with a conditioner. Wash the baking soda mixture off with warm water.

For even healthier hair, use a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water in ratio 4:1 for rinsing out the baking soda shampoo. You can also add a few drops of essential oil for a nicer smell. Make sure you avoid getting the mixture in your eyes.
