If Chemotherapy Fails 97% Of The Time, Why Do Doctors Recommend It?

According to a recent static analysis, more than 1,6 million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year. Around a third of that, more than 580,000 people, is expected to lose their battle against this vicious disease.

The treatment for cancer is mostly violent; consisting of a mixture of chemotherapy and surgical attempts to remove the cancer, and the efficiency of either of the procedures is questionable. Among the people not confident in the effectiveness of chemo are plenty of doctors and medical experts.

One of those experts is Peter Glidden, BS, ND. His work, The MD Emperor Has No Clothes, cites a study from the Journal of Clinical Oncology which found that over a 12-year period chemo was not effective in 97% of cases. This automatically draws the question – why is chemo still used?

Glidden says that, even though they don’t get any benefits from most medicaments, doctors do get perks when prescribing chemo drugs. This is due to the fact that doctors prescribing chemo get a cut from the pharmaceutical company. He claims that the doctors’ direct monetary benefit is the only reason chemo is still prescribed.

Multiple studies claim that the contribution of chemo in 5-year cancer survival rate is estimated to be in the range of 2,1-2,3%.

Another one of the people behind this theory is Dr. Leonard Coldwell. He uses the following anecdote to explain chemotherapy: If you have a garden with flowers and some weeds, you don’t destroy all of it with an anti-pesticide. This is what chemo does – it destroys the weeds (and sometimes doesn’t), but it also destroys the flowers.

Dr. Coldwell claims that radiation has the same effect, and that it is as ineffective as chemo. He says that the way that doctors are trained is responsible for prescribing these treatments, that their training doesn’t go for the root cause.

Coldwell also points out that the reason that suicide rates among doctors are high is because the doctors eventually find out that they cannot do absolutely anything to help their patients.
